Dedicated to our mission of providing students of all ages with the highest quality of individual and group courses in Music and Dance, Brooklyn Melodies offers Piano, Guitar, Violin, Drums, Vocal, Theory and Dance to over 5,000 children and adults. For ages below 3 years, specially dedicated music classes are offered. The primary purpose of such classes is introducing children to music literacy early on in their childhood. Students, along with their instrument of choice, gradually cover the fundamentals of reading, as well as technique and performance.

Young singers are encouraged to join one of the choirs (arranged by age group) as their young bodies adapt to the rigors of vocal training.

  • Emphasis on Posture, Breath Control, Breathing for Singing, Diaphragm
  • Scales on open vowels throughout the singer’s range: AH, AYE, EE, OH, OO`
  • Learning how to enunciate singing songs in English

Depending on the depth and growth of the voice, strength of the body, and discipline of the singer, further assessment is done to explore singing types: Spirituals, Ethnic Folk Songs, Broadway, Opera, R&B and/or Jazz.

The study of Music Theory, which covers learning to read musical notes, is essential for students regardless of age.  This skill is one of the most important skills because the voice is the one instrument you can perform with without having learned to read the notes first. Singers who do not learn this skill are limited in their preparation to perform and develop.

The Brooklyn Melodies piano department is renowned for offering high quality lessons under the supervision of a world-class faculty. Students can start learning Piano at ages as early as 5 years old. With an emphasis in classical style and a vast repertoire to choose from, piano students can study a wide variety of styles. For those new to music, Piano is an excellent start as it helps build a foundation in musicality without major limitations in developing sound, tone or intonation.

Piano students at BMMC get to perform in a variety of recitals and concerts throughout the year.

Private guitar courses at Brooklyn Melodies offer students many options and caters to a variety of style preferences. Guitar students can study either electric or acoustic guitar, with an emphasis on developing technical skills and reading abilities. Led by classical guitarists from around the world, Brooklyn Melodies has long had a strong tradition in classical guitar while also offering guitar students the opportunity to perform in the school’s “Rock Ensemble.” Students can start guitar classes as early as 6 years old.

Students can start learning Violin at Brooklyn Melodies at ages as young as 5 years old. While they begin learning the fundamentals of bowing, left-hand technique, students also start developing sight-reading skills and strong tone and intonation.

Students get the chance to perform live in Brooklyn Melodies’ bi-annual solo recitals, as well as the school’s chamber orchestra.

Drums is a popular instrument and is found in a wide variety of musical styles. There are many opportunities for ensemble play for an accomplished drum student.
